In her debut album on Warner Classics "Enchantée",
Marie Oppert embraces both the classics of Broadway repertoire and treasured songs of French origin, in order to represent her own musical upbringing and passion.
She is joined by the Orchestre National de Lille and conductor Nicholas Skilbeck in the recording, and in two separate tracks she reunites with Natalie Dessay and Melissa Errico, whom she affectionately calls “my two Franco-American ‘fairy godmothers’.
Since her debut at age 17 in the lead role of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg at the Theatre Chatelet alongside Natalie Dessay and Michel Legrand, Marie Oppert is viewed as the new « rising star of musical theatre ».
She followed a comprehensive musical training at the Maitrise of the Regional Conservatory of Paris which also offered her her first professional experiences in children’s roles (The Sound of Music and Street Scene at Theatre Chatelet, Alice, the Musical at Theatre Clavel). After passing her high school degree, she became the youngest recipient of a Fulbright grant from the Franco-American commission in order to specialize in Musical Theatre in a Bachelor of Arts at Marymount Manhattan College in New York. During her studies, she performed the role of Chloe in Wonderland at the York Theatre. Currently, she pursues her voice studies with Chantal Mathias.
In 2017, she won the Interpretation Award of the International Singing Competition of Marseille (operetta category) and Lotte Lenya Competition’s Special Award of the Kurt Weill Foundation.
She is regularly invited to sing in concerts in prestigious venues in Paris such as Olympia, Salle Pleyel, Theatre Champs-Elysees, Grand Rex, Radio France, at the Crazy Coqs in London and at Birdland in New York.
Marie Oppert is under exclusive contract with Warner Classics. Her first solo album « Enchantée », recorded with National Lille Symphonic Orchestra and conducted by Nicholas Skilbeck, was rewarded « Diamond of Opera Magazine » and will be released in May 2020
